JAMB Should be Scrapped Because they’ve Lost Credibilit

According to information from the chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Ibadan chapter, Professor Josiah Ajiboye, has disclosed to local media, that the recent obnoxious activities of the Joint Admissions and

Matriculation Board have disclosed that the organization does not holds any credibility and should be scrapped from Nigeria educational sector. Here’s his word which is quoted below; “If you want to know, my view on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s changed totally, when they made an unofficial decision, planning on reallocating students universities which these candidates choose, and that is a very condemnable act. The simple truth is that the JAMB board took a very wrong decision — and it is a criminal one for that matter. Because this sets aside the right of Nigerians to freedom of choice. One thing which is clear here, is that for a public institution like JAMB, they should not be a promoter of private establishments.” The truth is that for the joint admission and matriculation board to have reassigned candidates to private universities, using public funding, is a criminal act and they were lucky they got away with it. The question is in whose interest did JAMB do that? Many Nigerians have speculated that there is more to the issue than meets the eye. Many Nigerians have taken to social media, speculating that these private universities’ inducement (to get JAMB to act to their advantage); however, we need to confirm this details. But going by the argument that in the year 2014, only 2% of the candidates, who participated in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, applied to private universities, subsequently, JAMB was trying to correct that imbalance through re-allocation. Obviously, something is fishy there and it has the hands of these private institution owners. I won’t be mixing words here or will i be beating around the bush, the truth is that JAMB has lost it it’s credibilitya long ago. The agency has destroyed the dream of many young Nigerians for university education through its actions and inactions, and there are many grievances against this agency. Many students have been left frustrated and have surrender their ambition to study in Nigeria for university education. I want the public, and good people of Nigeria to note here now, that the continued existence of JAMB should be determined before her 2016 session, where they’ll become giants which can’t be scrapped. From past records of agreements between the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Federal Government over the years, the restructuring of the agency, known as the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has always been part of the agreements between the body. The only issue we’re facing today, is that the successive governments always failed to implement that part of the agreements. Lastly, i would love to add here, that the University autonomy will not be complete until that omnibus body called JAMB is removed totally from the Nigeria educational sector, before we can grow. What do you think? Should JAMB be scrapped or should this warning be disregard by the Federal Government.

Post UTME 2015: JAMB Release Date For Candidates To Check School They Are Been Postef

We are glad to inform the general public, that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) management, has released the much awaited date, in which all candidates will be required to check the school portal to know the schools they are been posted to. While speaking on this new jamb policy, JAMB Public relations officer (pro), also known as the jamb’s spokesman, Mr. Fabian Benjamin stated that all affected candidates should check the jamb website on Friday, the 5th of August, 2015 to know the schools they are posted to. Also speaking on the protest by candidates who were preparing to participate in UNILAG’s 2015/2016 post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (post-UTME) but were rejected and dismiss because of the cut off points which the school sets at 250, Mr. Fabian Benjamin said that the Board has entered into an agreement with the University of Lagos management, to post the rejected students to other academic institution in Lagos state. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)  concluded plans to begin the 2016 sales of UTME form since August 31st, 2015.
The board’s Head of Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin in statement in Lagos made this known to the public.
